Attorney Phyllis M. DiCara and Attorney Rachel D. Farris have over 50 years of combined experience in the area of family law, helping people transition to a new chapter of their lives.

DiCara & Farris, LLC offers those dealing with the family court system practical and strategic advice in a cost effective manner.  When you are facing a divorce or other family law issue, DiCara Law knows that your case is unique and our goal is to help you through this stressful time by providing you with answers and options based upon your needs and concerns.  At your initial consultation we evaluate your situation to determine whether traditional litigation, a collaborative approach or mediation is best for you.

Traditional Litigation:

The Connecticut Court system offers a structured process for parties to move through their divorce.  This often includes discovery, pre-trial negotiations, and, if an agreement is not reached, a trial before a judge.  Both Attorney Farris and Attorney DiCara sit as Special Masters in the Hartford and New Britain courts; as Special Masters we meet with people going through a divorce and their attorneys to provide recommendations on how to settle their case.  Not all cases can be settled and you need trustworthy and experienced attorneys by your side.

Collaborative Divorce:

The collaborative divorce process happens outside of Court with each spouse represented by an attorney.  Agendas are set to provide for a business like setting creating a focused and productive environment.  You are actively involved in the negotiations between you and your spouse.  As your advocate we engage in proactive problem solving and we make sure that important issues are heard.

Mediation:

Communication is key, it drives a negotiation.  The attorney mediator is a neutral third party who uses specialized skills as facilitator for difficult conversations.  Mediation allows for a private, focused forum to settle your differences.  As an attorney mediator we draft all the necessary court documents and ensure that the final document covers the terms and spirit of your agreement.
